Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra – A Celebration of Contrasts

May 16 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra is coming to the Parish Church of St John Baptist in Cirencester for ‘A Celebration of Contrasts’.

The concert will begin with Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture, a playful and exuberant tribute to student life, brimming with good humour and spirited tunes.
From there, we enter the haunting beauty of Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, a masterpiece of lyrical melancholy and emotional depth, forever suspended in a state of poetic incompletion.
The evening reaches its awe-inspiring climax with Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3, the magnificent “Organ Symphony,” where orchestral brilliance meets the grandeur of the organ, performed by Cirencester Parish Church’s very own Director of Music, Thomas Hawkes.
