Celebrating successful NHS App Support Event in Cirencester

  • 27 March, 2026

The Churn Community Hub expanded its digital support in Cirencester with its biggest NHS App digital drop-in session ever on 18th March.

The Churn Community Hub worked with Phoenix Health Group and Cirencester Health Group to deliver a Digi Hub NHS App support session for their patients and the wider community. Ninety-five people attended Cirencester Leisure Centre and were supported to access and use the NHS App, helping them take greater control of their healthcare.

Volunteers and staff provided one-to-one support with downloading the NHS App and navigating key features, including ordering repeat prescriptions, managing appointments and viewing GP records. Attendees were also offered follow-up digital support sessions at The Churn for other digital needs.

Digital exclusion remains a significant barrier to essential online services, including healthcare. The Churn is the South Cotswold partner for the Digital Inclusion Gloucestershire Initiative (DIGI), a countywide partnership of eight community-based organisations and funded by Gloucestershire County Council, NHS Gloucestershire and the UK Government, the DIGI Partnership delivers practical, community-based solutions to tackle this issue.

These include Digi Hubs in accessible local venues, as well as the Digi@Home programme, which provides tailored support for individuals in their own homes. Plus, a growing network of Digital Champion volunteers who help people build digital skills and confidence within their communities.

Michelle Bradburn, DIGI Partnership lead for The Churn Community Hub said:

“Accessing healthcare is becoming increasingly digital, and it’s vital that no one is left behind. Events like this show how working with healthcare providers and community organisations can be effective in breaking down barriers and helping people feel confident using tools like the NHS App.”
