    Cheltenham Symphony Orchestra is coming to the Parish Church of St John Baptist in Cirencester for 'A Celebration of Contrasts'. The concert will begin with Brahms’ Academic Festival Overture, a playful and exuberant tribute to student life, brimming with good humour and spirited tunes. From there, we enter the haunting beauty of Schubert’s Unfinished Symphony, a masterpiece of lyrical melancholy and emotional depth, forever suspended in a state of poetic incompletion. The evening reaches its awe-inspiring climax with Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3, the magnificent “Organ Symphony,” where orchestral brilliance meets the grandeur of the organ, performed by Cirencester Parish Church’s very own Director of Music, Thomas Hawkes.   • Choral Society Concert – Rossini – Petite Messe Solennelle

    Cirencester Choral Society will be performing Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle and Praise the Lord by Jenny Rees on Saturday 2nd May at 7.30pm in Cirencester Parish Church. Music will be conducted by Carleton Etherington and accompanied by Charles Matthews on the Harmonium and Thomas Hawkes on the Piano, along with four soloists Hannah Grove Soprano, Juliet Curnow Alto, Archie Inns Tenor and Lucas Maunder Bass. Doors open at 6.45pm and tickets will be available on the door.
